As I posted about a few days ago, we are working to define our sustainable business practices. Muhammad Yunus recently wrote an article that describes our ideals well. While we might not ever win the Nobel prize like Mr. Yunus, we are part of the new generation of capitalists with a conscience.

For quite some time I have been working with our Yahoo store software to figure out how to offer free shipping on Maxpedition Gear, just like we do on eBay. I still don't know how to make it work properly, but I did have a brainstorm this afternoon. I set the Maxpedition gear to weigh nothing, then set the calculator to charge $0 for everything that weighs nothing, and *tada* effective free shipping on Maxpedition Gear. Enjoy!

Sustainable Business Practices

One of the unique aspects of Baying Hound is the care and consideration we put into making our business environmentally and socially sustainable. We are working on defining our sustainable business practices to make it clearer to customers, vendors, and our financial backers why sustainability is a reason to support Baying Hound. We are also exploring certification by a credentialing organization.

Our local newspaper finally did a story about BPA. The Columbus Dispatch interviewed Jon at our favorite local outdoor store, Clintonville Outfitters. (I guess these guys are competition, but they deserve a mention anyways because they are a great local business.)

Toxicology Letters recently published a study that found BPA leaks from polycarbonate bottles throughout their life, and increases up to 55 fold when boiling water is added.
