Free Water:
We run a dehumidifier in our old basement. It fills up every day, and becomes a bucket of free water: I use it to flush a toilet, water plants just outside the back door, or add the water to the washing machine for a load of laundry.
Try making your own household cleaners. Equal parts vinegar and water with a little essential oil is cheap, easy, smells great, and best of all, no chemicals!
I drink my own pee. It's recycling.
Greetings! I think the most useful tip I have from our home is that we have turned down the hot water tank temperature and take much shorter showers. Please enter me in your wonderful "Echo T" drawing. Thanks,Cindi

I never take a disposable bag from a retail store. Okay, maybe it's actually closer to 97% of the time I never take a bag. I have micro shopping bags that are almost always in my purse/backpack. It's a personal mission of mine and I often have to tell the cashier more than once that I really don't want a bag!
please enter me...
i catch rainwater to reuse on gardening, etc.make a lot of our own cleaning supplies and washing detergent.Try and cut down as much as i can,,gotta take care of the world for our kids and grands...
thank you
I have six kids, and two of them are under the age of 2. So they put their mouths on EVERYTHING. So, I make my own furniture polish. Since we dust every week, we need to make sure no one gets sick from it.
1 cup of Olive oil
1/2 cup of fresh lemon juice
Put into a spray bottle. It works great!
Try trading in for a newer diesel car/truck. You'll get 35-40% better fuel economy over the same vehicle in a gasoline engine. Our 7.3L Excursion (a beast for sure, right?) gets 27mpg hwy with an intake and Hypertech MaxEnergy (not MaxPower) Programmer, and our totally stock 1.9L Jetta TDI gets 51mpg hwy (43 average). Better than a hybrid, anyway.
Since there are no hybrid big enough for our large family, we trip chain...if we are heading out to a certain part of town, we do all our errands for that part of town instead of making multiple trips. Saves some gas.
We also try to not buy overly packaged materials. *try* being the operative word.
When I water my garden, I use soaker hoses, and even then I only water in the morning or evening. Much less water gets wasted through evaporation this way.
Try to use more reusable products instead of disposables. You can use wrap-n-mat sandwich wrappers instead of foil or plastic wrap, and fabric lunch bags instead of paper. Plastic water bottles can be replaced with Sigg or Kleen Kanteen bottles, which are made of safer materials anyway.
For our wash we use 1tbsp baking soda and 3tbs vinegar as our "detergent". There is zero residue, an incredibly clean scent, and very, very clean clothes. Think it's crazy? Pour 3tbsp vinegar on 1 tbsp baking soda on some baking soda and tell me how much baking soda remains.
Baking soda and water makes a great scouring powder, and can be rinsed with water or a wet rag with a few drops of vinegar on it.
We try to buy local products and produce as much as possible this cuts down on the waste for travel ( our and the maker) and it puts money back into the local small buisness economy.
Tough Stains fear no more. Just put a dab of hydrogen peroxide on the stain , let it sit for a few minutes, and dab with a cotton ball or cloth. Very earth friendly.
We have made a small investment in tote bags that we bring shopping with us. We take them to the grocery store as well as to the mall. I love not bringing home plastic bags! (we even got a free one at Home Depot when I went in to recycle a CFL :))
